'Elle' Sneak Peek: Legend, Icon & Diva Are Meaningless Words - I Prefer Cher

Cher in Elle magazineA sneak peek of Cher's upcoming 'Elle' magazine appearance comes in the form of a fresh black-and-white shot and an interview snippet as the modest star shrugs off "legend", "icon" and "diva" labels.

In 1965, Cher shot to superstardom when most of the world's photos were captured in black-and-white. Almost 50-years later, the legend - though she doesn't like to be called it - is featured in a brand new black-and-white snapshot in an upcoming issue of 'Elle' magazine.

UK publication 'Daily Mail', whom premièred Cher's latest music video 'Woman's World' last year, premièred the two-tone shot of the 'If I Could Turn Back Time' singer that'll will appear in the 'Women in Music' edition of 'Elle' (that 'Cher News' reported about on 9 April).

Cassie Carpenter of 'Daily Mail' wrote, "At nearly 70, she's had an enviable five-decade career in music, acting and modeling. And pop diva  Cher easily defied her 67 years in a fuzzy checkered coat and raven wig for ELLE's seventh annual Women in Music issue.

"However Fans best beware of using the term 'legend' to describe the evergreen Oscar winner - born Cherilyn Sarkisian", 'Daily Mail' added.

The news publication - whom spotlighted Cher's "daring" 'Dressed To Kill Tour' outfits earlier this week - is referencing Cher's new interview with 'Elle', which has her saying, "I hate that word. Legend, icon, diva. I hate all those f**king words. They're meaningless. I prefer Cher."

The 'Elle' Women in Music edition will hit newsstands on Tuesday.

  1. Good to see CHER in mag BUT A BETTER TRIBUTE would have been on the COVER and a full page or 2 article,,ZERO respect for a living legend of 50 years in the biz
