Cher Dishes Out Disappointment About 'The Greatest Thing' .Plus Expect A "Mystery Guest" On Her New Album!

Cher
Cher spent more time on Twitter to talk about her new album and dismissed track 'The Greatest Thing'.

Since the formation of 'Cher News' back in August 2011, the Cher-Lady Gaga duet 'The Greatest Thing' has been a hot topic. The song was originally a Cher solo track given to her for her new album by its songwriter Lady Gaga. However, Gaga then pleasantly surprised Cher by opting to make the song a duet. Cher talked highly of the duet - at one point she was even expecting it to be the lead single from her new album. However, Gaga was displeased with the track and pulled the plug on it.

One fan wrote to Cher on Twitter, "I just wanted to ask... Gaga gave you 'The Greatest Thing', right? Can't you just sing it solo without her? Or was it meant to be sung only as a duet?" Cher answered, "I could but it's a great duet. I redid my vocal - good call. I always hated my vocal and loved hers! Now I like Mine too! RedOne was to redo the track but he blew it off. I have singers who like the song, but not the production, it's old. RedOne's contract says that no-one is allowed to touch the track and he's missing in action. What the f**k."

A fan of Cher asked her on Twitter, "Do you think that this new CD is your best work yet?" Cher answered, "Definitely! And we all know that I'm not a fan of a certain old singer".

It seems that the new album will come in three versions. One fan asked the 'Strong Enough' singer, "Will the album have a standard and deluxe version too?" Cher replied, "It will have three". She still seems unsure on exactly how many songs will be included on the album; twice when asked how many songs will be on the album, she responded, "11-16".

Excitingly, we can expect a "mystery guest" on the album! When a fan asked Cher about her collaborations on the album, Cher responded, "Jake Shears, Pink and mystery guest! It's not a duets CD, it's a Cher CD. Having said that... They're great". Maybe it's her 'Burlesque' co-star Christina Aguilera as once hinted, or maybe not. Who would you like the "mystery guest" to be?

  2. I too love Christina! I am very sad about The Greatest Thing. They cut the vocals in July 2011. Hard to believe Gaga and WBR could not figure something out. It is a simple song so how much could Red One have changed it?

  5. I agree with all these choices. Christina would be great and make-up for them not doing a duet in Burlesque. Adele and Christina Perri are great as well. Kezio, do you mean Adam L?

    1. Not him. I meant Lazaro. But a duet with Adam would be the GREATEST THING to me :D

  8. It's very sad that Lady Gaga gave a gift to Cher and now she taking it back. We have been waiting for Cher and Lady Gaga duet for two years. How can Lady Gaga be so cruel. I guess Madonna is right.

  9. Why not add "The Greatest Thing" to the album at a later date. Lady Gaga do the right thing for all the fans.

  10. The whole Greatest Thing ride has been torture for us all. Sadly The Greatest Thing would have been an iconic song (duet) bot BOTH of them and I bet they would have won the duo Grammy. The best thing about TGT is that it WOULD have had a ton of airplay in the USA.

    1. Very true, sadly this decison is all on Lady gaga, she may be popular now BUT will it last 50 years, had she done her work early on maybe the parts/vocals she didnt like would have been fixed by now.. It would have been a GREAT move for her!

  11. I would be SUICIDAL if it was Adam Lambert (total poser) and Cher is not fond of Madonna at all, so that is unlikely. I wish it was Annie Lennox but that is unlikely. Cyndi Lauper would be great. Florence Welch would be a dream with Cher.

  13. This whole Lady Gaga thing is rather sad. Both Cher & Gaga recorded their stuff for The Greatest Thing back in July 2011 and then RedOne mixed it. Next month marks 2 YEARS since The Greatest Thing was DONE! I mean, this is really nutty! It is a simple song so how much can Gaga dislike it?
