Cher Comes To The Rescue

Singer Cher has defended son Chaz Bono due to him being "viciously attacked on blogs and message boards" after 'Dancing With The Stars' announced he would be a competitor on the show.

Chaz Bono, the son of super-couple Sonny & Cher, will be the first transgender contestant to appear on "Dancing With The Stars" when the upcoming series begins.

As soon as the 42 year old was revealed as one of the stars for this year's series, some people were evidently not happy about the decision, as Message boards and blogs lit up with angry responses.

Now, music legend Cher has rightly jumped to her son's defence via Twitter. Just moments ago, she tweeted about the online attacks;

"Chaz is being viciously attacked on blogs and message boards about being on DWTS! This is still America right? It took guts to it."

A follow-up tweet by the 65 year old superstar displayed her support for her son;

"I support him no matter what he chooses to do. . .It took courage to do DWTS! Thank God Chaz has an unlimited supply."

Another tweet showcased Cher's anger over the matter;

"Mothers don't stop getting angry with stupid bigots who f--- with their children."

Like Cher, Chaz's fans were quick to defend the "Dancing With The Stars" competitor. They have also been fighting back on Twitter, but have also been challenging the message boards users and bloggers who created the controversy.
