Cher Musical Sets Director Ahead of January Staged Reading

Playbill reports: The Broadway-aimed musical based on the life and career of pop icon Cher will get a two-week staged reading in New York City this January.

According to an Equity casting notice, Avenue Q and Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore will direct the January 2-14, 2017, reading of the project that is billed as The Cher Show. Flody Suarez and Hamilton’s Jeffrey Seller are producing.

Cher appeared on last night's 'The Late Late Show With James Corden', which saw her update and perform her 1965 multi-million-selling #1 hit 'I Got You Babe'.

The 'Believe'-singer stepped out in a red sequin dress with a feather coat borrowed from her last tour, and introduced host James Corden. When the host came out, he was dressed like an ‘80s Cher with crazy hair and a leather ensemble.

“It’s a Sonny and Cher song, and I just thought I could be Cher,” Corden replied.

ET caught up with legendary singer-actress Cher to talk about -- amongst other things -- her return to the concert stage next year...

Cher is experiencing a true career revival at age 70.

The legendary singer announced on Tuesday that she's partnering up with AEG Live and MGM Resorts International for Classic Cher, a series of concerts taking place in Las Vegas and Maryland next year. ET sat down with Cher to talk about this new phase in her career, and she also opened up about her love life and those tabloid rumors alleging that she's close to death.

The 70-year-old made fans very happy with word of her new tour, Classic Cher, as well her Las Vegas residency in 2017 at the new Park Theater Monte Carlo, before heading off to Washington, DC to wrap up the tour in March.

In fact, she plans to hit the road and take the stage again next year for a show filled with the glitzy costumes and powerful performances she's known for.

Cher Announces 2017 "Classic Cher" Concerts! -- With Shock Vegas & Washington Residency

As expected, Cher has revealed that she will be performing concerts in 2017!!!

The concerts will take place from Spring. Somewhat shockingly -- knowing that Cher was unhappy during her 2008-2010 Las Vegas residency -- the new set of concerts will be another residency show, entitled "Classic Cher". However, the shows will not just take residency in Las Vegas, but also in Washington, DC.

Cher's Las Vegas residency will take place at the Park Theater at the Monte Carlo, from February 9, 2017 - February 25, 2017, and again from May 3, 2017 - May 20, 2017. Its website states:
