The night began with special guests Pat Benatar and Nick Geraldo taking to the stage at around 8:30PM to perform some of the former's biggest chart hits, such as million-seller 'Invincible', 'We Belong', 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot', signature tune 'Love Is A Battlefield' and finale number 'Heartbreaker'. One concert-goer, @BethAnnFarvour, tweeted, "Pat Benatar was on point. Best opening act I've seen." Fellow 1980's act Boy George was in the audience.
Around an hour after Benatar's act, Cher herself came on-stage at around 10:30PM. Dressed in a colourful ensemble with an over-sized matching head-dress, the 67-year-old entered the stage singing 'Woman's World from her latest album 'Closer To The Truth'. She then performed 1999 million-seller 'Strong Enough'.
The legendary singer then dug out her 'Cher At The Colosseum' outfit and a couple of older tracks for the set-list, in the form of Sonny & Cher's 'The Beat Goes On' and the ever-popular 'I Got You Babe', "duetting" with Sonny on the big screen screen behind her.
Cher's 1970's #1 hit singles 'Gyrspies, Tramps & Thieves', 'Dark Lady' and 'Half Breed' allocated the opening concert's sixth, seventh and eighth spots on the hit-filled set-list, as she dresses as the story-songs' title characters.
Sticking to recent tracks, Cher then performed recent Billboard Dance Club Songs #1 'Take It Like A Man' in a gold outfit.
The enduring icon then performed the sit-down segment of the show, performing her 1995 hit 'Walking In Memphis' as her 12th song in the concert, before belting out the 1989 country-tinged million-seller 'Just Like Jesse James' and its 1990 US Top 20 follow-up single 'Heart Of Stone'. Bare-footed, Cher then sang upbeat early 1990's #1 single 'The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In his Kiss)'
In her trademark outfit of black body-stocking, leather jacket and humongous black curly wig, Cher rocked late-80's tracks 'Bang Bang', 'I Found Someone' and the multi-million-selling 'If I Could Turn Back Time'
Cher returned the Phoenix audience to deliver her biggest hit, 1998's massive-seller 'Believe', in a glam-rock-inspired cotume
2013 hit ballad 'I Hppe You Find It', from her 'Closer To The Truth' album', is performed as she floats above the audience.

ReplyDeleteNice set list. What a shame she did not include I Walk Alone or my favorite song off CTTT Sirens. This is a great set though and different than her show in Vegas.
ReplyDeleteIt was an awesome show
ReplyDeleteI Like This Set List But I Think A Lot Of Good Stuff Is Missing Like "All Or Nothing" "Save Up All Your Tears" & Also Where's "Song For The Lonely? Those Are My Fave Songs From Her! I Hope She Include Them In The Next Shows!
ReplyDeleteI have tickets to the Houston show, so excited! I was hoping for more songs from the new album, really wanted to hear Favorite Scars but I know the show is going to be amazing regardless.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an awesome show. Just like being expected from Cher. When will we see the videos?

ReplyDeleteI was hoping for her to sing my 2 faves I Walk Alone and SIRENS. Oh well, maybe in the future. For now just happy to see songs like I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For gone.
ReplyDeletePure Cher! I loved the costumes, the sets, ... could have done with less monologue, she talked about her age too much; she's got nothing to apologize for. Her duet with Sonny brought tears to my eyes. Lots of nostalgia happening.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting all of this tour stuff Daniel!
ReplyDeleteI was not in attendace to Phoenix, AZ show. The pictures are #EPICWIN. Some were unflattering, as Cher stated costumes didnt fit, headdress was to heavy, and no shoes or boots, at one point she was barefoot singing. Cher said she had fun anyway. The kinks will be worked out. The video I have seen, WOW and really the main thing, Cher's has some pipes let me tell you. She sang incredible. #D2KTourEPICWIN :-) oh and as far as her no monologe, I love it when she ad-libs and talks about her mom having a mouth of a sailor, and Gregg Allman used to call her Sailor Mouth...haaa
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the setlist! Why only 3 songs from CTTT? Where is "I Hope You Find It" or the new single "I Walk Alone"? I think this is the same show since the "Believe" tour in 1999.
ReplyDeleteStop your whining, she's Cher and if you bought tickets to watch her perform you love her no matter what. Mwah Cher, can't wait to see you tonight in Toronto.
