Cher
Cher's new UK single 'I Walk Alone' is out today! The banjo-led country-tinged single was co-written by and features backing vocals from superstar P!nk, whom penned it especially for Cher's latest Top 5 album 'Closer To The Truth'.

Warner Bros. have stated to 'Cher News' that the official release date, "impact date", of the 1-track download single will be tomorrow,  Monday 13 January 2013. However, To ensure that 'I Walk Alone' becomes Cher's 43rd UK hit single next Sunday, fans can purchase the song right now on Amazon.co.uk , UK iTunes, Sainsbury's or any other UK online music store.

Cher's last single in the UK was 'I Hope You Find It', which made her the oldest female singer to score a UK Top 40 single when it debuted at #25 on the Official UK Singles Chart. 'I Walk Alone' has followed its predecessor to become A-Listed on (the UK's most-listened-to radio station) BBC Radio 2's playlist.

Short share:
  • 'Take It Like A Man' has moved up to #3 (from #7) on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart (dated 25 January).
  • 'Closer To The Truth' was ranked #7 in 'Attitude' magazine's list of Top 10 Albums of 2013.
  • 'Take It Like A Man - The Remixes' (to be released 28 January) is available to pre-order on Amazon and Amazon UK.
  • Cher has reached 1 million "Likes" on Facebook.

  1. The song is great but I don't see how it's going to be a hit with no music video or promo.

  2. Sad how Warner Bros has not done its part for this. I Walk Alone is perfect and deserves to be a hit but with no video and no performances by Cher and not featuring Pink it has little chance espcially in the US. Maybe she can get airplay in the UK and in other countries not as Ageist and Sexist as the USA.

  3. The lack of videos for this album is appalling

  4. I would buy this is in a second if there was a CD single out there! Instead, fans have to fight over expensive promo CD's.

Fans already have the song on the album, why on earth would they buy the song again as an MP3? I think the song itself has every potential to become a hit, but not when there is no video, no promotion and no physical formats. What a wasted opportunity...

  5. It is very sad since at age 67 Cher CAN sell physical CDs. In the USA we know to expect NOTHING but in the UK it is still normal to have a physical CD single. I mean they did it with I Hope You Find It/WW so why not for I Walk Alone? I never (and I mean never) download music. I buy physical CDs or stream. Somehow WBR does not get it.

  7. Cher never was much of one to shoot videos. What is sad is on Cher.com's message board fans have made videos (for free) and they turned out better than some of Cher's real videos. A fan made a nice fan-made one of I Hope You Find It using her beautiful live performances. Another fan made a nice video for I Walk Alone using photos from her entire life. Of course WBR deleted that one. However these fan-made videos were excellent!!!

  9. Music videos are the most watched genre on YouTube, so even without MTV/VH1 etc, a music video is still a fantastic promotional tool for a single/album. At the very least there should be an official lyric video for "I Walk Alone"!

And the fact that there is no physical format for the single is ridiculous - some artists sell well on downloads (artists that are mostly aimed at the younger generation). An artist like Cher however, who has a very loyal fanbase who has been collecting her releases for decades, still go for the physicals. There is no point in buying an MP3 when you can just rip it from the CD album, in case you need an MP3. Like Lisa, I never buy digital. I have thousands and thousands of CD albums and singles that I happily pay for to add to my collection. But if the music is not made available on a physical format, I simply skip it! Get it together Warner - you should have learned by now which artists do well on physicals!

  10. I bet a young artist like Lorde (who just turned 17) will likely never have physical CD singles out. Her fans are kids like her and will download and stream her. Cher is 67 (soon 68) and with a 50 Yr career and Cher's fans like to BUY her physical CDs and not download. If WBR does not get it that is rather sad. If I Walk Alone featured Pink it would be a hit. Sadly without featuring Pink only her fans will know this wonderful song so that is sad. Lady Gaga was the one who ruined their plan (WBR) since TGT with Cher & her was supposed to be a single AND would have had radio since Ga is 27 and 27 yr-olds get radio play just as 17 yr-olds like Lorde do.

  11. There is a Radio Edit version of "I Walk Alone". How long is it? The album version is 3:23 min! There are some copies available of the 2 track promo on ebay!

  13. Thanks for the link Burbubicha. Too bad THAT is not in the stores or on the net for us to buy. Its the promo given out to DJs. Of course DJs then sell it on places like e-bay for $$$$ (usually much more expensive) than it would be if WBR just sold the CD-Single to us.
