One of the many memorable dresses worn by Cher to the Academy Awards has been included in a new book by Hal Rubenstein, titled '100 Unforgettable Dresses'. For this, and to recognize the new 'Films' page here at Cher News, I take a look back at Cher's Academy Awards outfits! Plus I'll be revealing the very dress that is being featured in that new book!By 1968, Sonny & Cher's record sales had dried-up but the duo were still attending many prolific events - one being the Academy Awards. Alongside Sonny, Cher turned up to the movie awards in a long pink dress with a lavish hairstyle.
At the height of her television career in 1973, Cher attended the Academy Awards ceremony alongside then-husband Sonny Bono. Sporting something that wouldn't be out of place on their own television show, Cher wore the first of many memorable Cher Oscar outfits!
In 1974, Cher attended the 46th Academy Awards without Sonny. The 'Dark Lady' co-presented the 'Best Original Dramatic Score' alongside Henry Mancini in a very small outfit!
In complete contrast to her last Oscar's outfit nearly a decade ago, and with a serious film now on her résumé, Cher wore a reserved long dress at the 1983 Annual Academy Awards in an attempt to be taken seriously as an actress. However, with Cher being Cher, the outfit was of course still very lavish, with a hint of transparency.
Cher was nominated for 'Best Supporting Actress' for her role in 'Silkwood' at the 56th Annual Academy Awards. Still dressing like a serious actress, Cher's choice of outfit this year did manage to be more revealing than the last.

I wish there was something on youtube of 1974 Oscar night when CHER wore her SILK HANKERCHIEF dress, didnt JLO attempt something similar?
