Most of Billboard's charts were updated today, and Cher's new single 'Woman's World' has risen up both of the music publication's Dance/Electronic Songs charts.
Released on 18 June, the single debuted on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart (based on sales, airplay, club play and streaming) at number 16 and fell to number 35 the following week. Thanks to a dazzling performance of the dance track on NBC's 'Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular', the song this week has climbed back up the chart, to number 21.
Likewise, on the Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart (based solely on sales) the song debuted at number 7 and had a fall the following week - last week - to number 31. But now this week it has moved back up to number 22.
These positions join the song's current placement of number 26 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart - which was updated a few days ago.
THAT'S my GIRL,,,lets get behind it and BUY IT!!
ReplyDeleteI would in a heartbeat - if there was a CD single to buy.
ReplyDeleteWBR needs to put WW out in CD-Single and Maxi Single and 12" formats. Cher SELLS physical copies of her singles. I bet they do but are waiting for it to get up the Dance charts first.
ReplyDeletei am not a digital person at all!!! but i've bought it on itunes, to help sells
ReplyDeleteKids are the ones who only download their tracks. Most people under 35 NEVER buy CDs and physical music. Since so many Cher fans are OVER 35, phyical copies are very important. I like having a physical CD with liner notes and artwork. I too downloaded WW but do not listen to it (digitally). I will when I have a physical CD in the car, at home and wherever. I am like you NY Christophe and not a digital person at all.
ReplyDeletetechnology has killed the MUSIC biz.
ReplyDeleteI need a phyical copy too,, i like reading the liner notes too,, its sometimes the best part,, i still have all my CHER music in their cd cases n vinyl- i have a nice collect,,
So much of show-biz is now disposable. All us Cher fans over a certain age have our CDs and LPs and other items. Obviously I do have PCs and other means of technology available but I prefer to buy my music and get physical CDs to enjoy. I actually miss the old vinyl formats for albums since you got a large surface for artwork. CDs are obviously smaller so not as dramatic in terms of artwork. I love the 12" Dance Vinyl format as well. I am sure WBR will put those out by the fall. Don't you?

ReplyDeleteAgree, it's important to actually have a CD single of Woman's World released. I assumed that when Cher performed on the voice, that this was the date her single was to be released on CD, but it seems available only by download via itunes? I'll admit, I'm not a frequent visitor of itunes nor do I download music off of Itunes frequently. Also, if people are pre-ordering her full CD now via the Cher.com website, do these sales actually apply to her billboard sales when the albun is released later in the year?
ReplyDeleteThe whole system is a mess. Nearly all albums debut at #1 or at least in the Top 10 in week 1, then fall fast in week 2. This is Cher's first album in a career going back nearly 50 years where the pre-sales have begun approximately 3 months before the album drops on Sept 24. That means all these pre-sales being racked up over the 3 months will all count as her week ONE sales. Needless to say, it is nearly impossible for her NOT to Debut Top 10 or Top 5 or Number One. As I said nearly all artits do this now and I feel it is silly. The real week to look at is Week 2 since Week 2 is bases only on Week 2. Artitis go from a crazy week one sales number to a pathetic week 2. Many albums fall off the Billboard Top 200 Album chart within a couple of months. The Billboard Hot 100 is a bigger mess since older acts like Cher have fewer fans who download music and of course Radio in the USA is geared to youth and Rap and R&B and mainstream artists need to "feature" hot rap/r&b acts to get airplay. WBR has to put out physical copies of WW if they want sales.
ReplyDeleteLET S ALL GET BEHIND IT AND WRITE TO WBR, and get what we all deserved and waited SOOOO long for!
ReplyDeleteNYChristophe, great idea! I know WBR wants Cher to sell and I bet they know she WILL be able to sell lots of CD-Singles and 12". I love buying her maxi-singles with all the remixes and artwork. In other countries they still sell those in music shops. In the US, we have fewer and fewer places to buy music. In NYC you still have stores that sell 12" vinyl and maxi-singles. For the rest of us we will order our physical things on-line.
ReplyDeletecool,, lets all do it,, i emailed them on their FB page already, do u have a better email contact for them?
